Privacy Policy
What Kismet collects, why, and what we never do with it. Plain-language privacy for members and guests.
Effective July 2026. This is the plain-language version; it is the only version, because privacy policies should be readable.
What we collect
- Account basics: your name/username, phone number, and — if you sign in with Apple or Google — the email those providers share.
- Activity content: the activities you create and the picks you submit. Picks are hidden from everyone (including our staff surfaces) until a draw selects a winner; losing picks remain sealed.
- Guest details: a guest’s name and phone number, provided at join. Verification status if they opt into a result text.
- Device tokens for push notifications, if you allow them.
What we use it for
- Running the product: crews, invites, draws, reveals, notifications.
- Guest-history merge: when a signup verifies a phone number, guest participation under that number attaches to the account. Verification is required — always.
- One optional guest text — the draw result — for verified numbers that opted in.
What we never do
- No selling or renting personal data. To anyone. Ever.
- No ads, no third-party tracking pixels, no data brokers.
- No marketing texts. The only SMS we send is the one a verified guest asked for.
- No exposing hidden picks — not to owners, not to admins, not to anyone, before the draw.
Retention & deletion
Delete your account in the app (Profile → Delete account). A short grace window lets you undo by signing back in; after it, personal data is purged and your phone number is released. Guests can ask us to remove their number at any time via [email protected].
Security
Data in transit is encrypted. Draw seeds and results are stored server-side for auditability. Access to production data is restricted to the small team that operates the service.
