Why Kismet
No more “idk, you pick.”
The four words that quietly kill every group plan. Kismet is the social app that ends group indecision — and turns the most tedious moment of any hangout into the one everyone waits for.
The problem
A friction everyone has — and no one names.
You’ve lived it. “Where should we eat?” “Idk, you pick.” “No—you pick.” Forty-five minutes later the energy’s gone and you’re back to the same three places you always go.
Group indecision is one of the most common frictions in modern social life — every weekend, in every friend group, over dinner, movies, trips, and plans that quietly never happen. And because we’ve all just accepted it, no one thought to fix it.
Most people don’t realize they need Kismet. They just know the feeling of the group chat going quiet — and the small relief when someone finally decides. Kismet makes that relief the whole point.
Not a wheel-spinner
The decision, made social.
Random pickers already exist — spin a wheel, shuffle a list, get an answer. But those are solo utilities: one person, one screen, a shrug. Kismet makes the decision shared, and turns it into a game with real stakes.
How it works
Hidden picks. One draw. Everyone in.
Everyone drops a hidden pick. Each person submits a recommendation in secret — no one, not even the organizer, can see the others.
A lock, then a draw. Submissions seal at a set time. Then fate draws one at random, live, for the whole crew at once.
Everyone commits. You all accept whatever fate picked. That pact is the magic — it ends the endless re-litigation that kills group plans.
Fair by design. The draw runs once, on our servers, and is saved for the record. No one can rig it — not even the person who made the plan.
The payoff
The reveal is the best part.
When the draw hits, Kismet doesn’t just show an answer — it performs one. The answer ball spins up, a reel tumbles through the crew’s mystery picks, and it lands on the winner in a burst of confetti and a haptic thunk you feel in your hand.
It’s the difference between a notification and a moment. Suddenly the most tedious part of the night is the part everyone’s grinning at — whether you’re around the same table or three time zones apart.
